Of mono-, multi-split systems and VRF. Pluses and minuses.
In examining the types of air conditioners, I wondered what the difference between a mono-split, multi split system and the system VRF. And those and others, there are both pros, cons of both.
Consider the usual mono-split system. The essence of its use, as in any household air conditioners, is to ensure comfortable conditions in a room to stay human. It consists of one indoor and one outdoor unit. Properly selected - this type of air conditioning without any problems provide the required temperature conditions for a comfortable stay man. The market in a wide range of inverter are presented as well as more simple, working only on the cooling air conditioners (and thus cheap). There are also disadvantages to provide the required temperature conditions not only in one room, need to install several air conditioners. And for this would have to sacrifice the appearance of the facade of the building, placing a few outdoor units. Also, do not always have the opportunity to place on the exterior facade of the building a few blocks.
Multi-split systems are a combination of one outdoor unit with multiple internal. They help to solve a number of the aforementioned problems. Chlad-performance outdoor units multi-split systems can range from five to twenty-five kilowatts. A single outdoor unit can connect from 2 to 9 indoor units of different capacities and different types (duct, cassette, wall). Each indoor unit can be switched on and off, that does not affect the work of other internal blocks. Even in its pluses include the fact that you can set in each room, its air temperature. The market also presented as a simple model that works only on cooling, and sophisticated inverter system (the most advanced considerably saving energy and giving the whole system over a long period of service).
Multi-split systems are mainly based on mono-split systems and, therefore, differ in the same large variety of models. But some manufacturers have in their range of standard sets of multi-split systems, two or four varieties.
The cost of installation of multi-split systems are usually higher than the cost of installation of several mono-split. This is associated with long pipelines (the cost of installation works, as well, calculated from the length of wire mounted freon).
There is also monozonalnye multi-split system, they are a form of conventional multi-split systems. Internal units, in this system operate synchronously. Required temperature parameters are set on the control board's leading unit, which manages the rest of the internal blocks of the system (slave units). In most cases, mono-zonal system is more efficient and cheaper solution to the problem of air conditioning in large buildings.
Along with all its virtues, split and multi split systems have disadvantages, significantly limiting the possibility of their use. First, a small length of interblock communications, it usually does not exceed 25 meters, although at this length does not prevent a noticeable reduction of the power conditioner. Secondly, it is a strictly limited number of connected indoor units, usually from two to four.
The peak of multi-split systems to date are VRV-system. These devices are distinguished by modern management systems, the highest energy efficiency, can operate in a wide range of loads.
The name «Variable Refrigerant Volume» (VRV) in English the word means "Variable refrigerant volume" and reflects the main difference between these systems from other air conditioning systems - application of the common system of pipelines. In the VRV system in each indoor unit with an electronic thermostatic valve that regulates the volume of incoming refrigerant from a common route of freon wires, depending on the heat load on the block. What makes the system more smoothly VRV supports temperature, without fluctuations, as in conventional air conditioners, regulating the temperature in the room by periodically switching on and off of the compressor.
Title VRV - a registered trademark of Daikin, but to refer to similar systems from other manufacturers has been chosen the name «Variable Refrigerant Flow» (VRF), which translates as "Variable flow refrigerant, in the sense that the same thing as VRV. The difference between VRF systems from different manufacturers are not significant and is determined by the number of connected external units, the maximum length of route, ease of administration, reliability systems in general, and life.
On the plus VRF-system, I took the fact that the maximum distance between the inner and outer blocks (the length of piping) is 100 meters. Difference in height between the outer and inner block - 50 meters. Making it possible to install the outdoor unit air conditioner in any convenient place on the roof or in the basement. Also, VRF-systems with greater precision supports the set temperature in a room than a conventional air conditioner.
By the same disadvantages, that the cost of VRF-systems is quite high. Use it in the apartment - not appropriate.
To sum up. To maintain a comfortable temperature in the same room, is quite enough and conventional mono-split air-conditioner. If the specified temperature parameters must be maintained in a small building (as a rule, it can be office buildings, hotels, etc.), appropriate use of multi-split systems, they easily be able to achieve her goal. To perform the same tasks in the office premises, hotels, medium size, is the best fit VRF-system. It all depends on where you want to maintain a comfortable temperature parameters, and on this basis, select the desired air-conditioning. Since the AC market is large enough, it does not take much to pick a preferred (cost, design and PR).
